With many event organisers planning and
looking to book a mobile caterer for the first time we are often asked what
documents or certificates should be provided by the catering business. Firstly
it is important to understand and separate the legal obligations from the
voluntary obligations of the business. |
Legal obligations: Every food business has to
be registered with their local council authority, have passed a food hygiene
inspection and demonstrated an understanding of food safety and associated food
handling risks, have public liability insurance, a gas and/or electricity
inspection/test
certificate.
Voluntary obligations: Some catering businesses choose to belong to trade associations
or industry bodies plus take further food safety handling exams. Summary: Your
caterer should always comply with the legal obligations and should be able to show
upon request documentation to support compliance.

Tip for organiser's needing an early morning cuppa. Very few mobile
caterers will arrive with boiling water ready to instantly pour as some
organiser's have been led to believe, please allow at least 20mins to fill and
get the kettle on. |
