Welcome to this July edition of our newsletter for 2009
events season.
This years event season is well underway with many large, high profile
events taking place over the next couple of months. We were at the Duxford
Flying Aces air show a couple of weeks back which appeared to be fairly busy
given the currant financial climate and negative vibes going around. Which only
proves that people still find the entrance money for events they really enjoy.
Getting sponsorship for your event
In tough times knocking on local businesses doors and asking for money to
sponsor your event regardless of the potential benefits to the business may be
mission impossible. An alternative idea may be to raffle your sponsorship by
selling tickets to a wide number of businesses and running a grand draw to
select the sponsor or sponsors of this years event. Work out the amount of money
that will be needed, put together a sponsorship package, set a sensible cost per
ticket and sell enough tickets to cover the amount to raise. |

Making that extra £1! (without annoying your event goers)
The pennies and pounds soon add up and from a fundraisers point of view the more
money that is squeezed out of visitors to the event the better. However, over
aggressive fundraising can ruin an event and for future years events, visitors
remember being constantly harassed by collectors on a mission to empty pockets
of change. Generally speaking people don't mind giving to fund raising
collections providing that money is collected in a fun, non aggressive way and
to an identifiable good cause. |

A few ideas on how to make that little bit extra money.
1.
Collect loose change in buckets. 2.
Get visitors to empty their pockets of change as they leave your event. 3.
Stop all proceedings until you hit your midway collection target. 4.
Produce a souvenir programme (funded by advertising).
5. Hold raffles, draws and auctions. 6.
Auction off all unclaimed prizes. |
