Welcome to this May edition of our newsletter for 2009
events season.
Whatever type of event you are
holding whether it be a summer fete or county show, providing adequate food
and drink facilities are an important and essential part of organising any
event. With mobile caterers specialising in a wide variety of refreshments
including ice creams, smoothies, crepes etc, as well as traditional fast foods
there is something to suit everyones taste.
With the weathermen forecasting that this summer is going to be
hotter than usual ice cream van operators and cold refreshment sellers are going
to be in great demand. Therefore it's important that you have booked your mobile
caterer or ice cream seller sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
Late spring annual office closing
The office will be closed to all telephone enquiries from mid-day Friday 5th
June until Monday 15th June. This will not effect the website availability
however some of the online services that are provided on the website will not be
acted upon until the 15th June. |

D-Day 65th anniversary events
Last year we were very lucky to spend a few days helping to escort two US WW2
veterans from the Band of Brothers, Don Marlarkey and Earl McClung around the
UK. We spent a morning at Upottery airfield, an afternoon at Aldbourne in
Wiltshire, a day at the War and Piece Show and finally took them to Portsmouth
to continue their trip. Anyway, while we were at the show remembering and
mentioning the TV series and that the troops were given ice cream as a last
treat before setting off on the night before D-Day. Our Dawn said to Don and
Earl "do you want an ice cream?", both said yes and then Earl turned round and
said "I didn't get any ice cream, only officers got ice cream, Spielberg got it
wrong". "We shall put that right" she said and set off to get two ice creams in
cups (old men, book signing and cones don't mix well). Several minutes later
she returned with two cups of ice cream complete with wafers, flakes and plastic spoons.
The ice creams were thoroughly enjoyed with Earl saying to Don "I had to wait
64 years for my ice cream".
If you bump into any Normandy veterans at commemorative events and celebrations
over the next few weeks take a few minutes to say hello, shake their hands and
let them tell you about their D-Day. You'll be glad you did. |
